Our obligations
Australian anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws apply to certain real estate services from 1 July 2026. Where Crest Realty provides a regulated service, we must take risk-based steps to understand our customer and manage money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing risk.
Information we may request
Depending on the customer, service and risk, we may request identity details and documents; information about beneficial owners, controllers, representatives and authority to act; the purpose and nature of the transaction or relationship; and information about source of funds or source of wealth where required.
Verification
We may verify information using documents, reliable electronic sources, authorised verification providers or other methods permitted by law. We may need to repeat or update checks during a relationship.
Secure document handling
Do not upload passports, driver licences or other identity documents through a general website enquiry form or ordinary email unless we specifically instruct you to do so. When documents are required, we will provide an approved secure process.
Use and disclosure
We use verification information to perform checks, assess risk, provide services, keep required records and meet legal obligations. We may disclose it to authorised verification providers, professional advisers, AUSTRAC, law-enforcement or other government bodies where authorised or required. The law may restrict what we can tell you about particular checks or reports.
If information is not provided
We may be unable to begin or continue a service, act on an instruction or complete a transaction if required information cannot be obtained or verified.
